Con su victoria en Roma el Barcelona ha hecho historia. El conjunto azulgrana se convierte en el quinto equipo europeo que logra el triplete, o lo que es lo mismo, ganar en una misma temporada la liga, la Copa y la Champions. De esta forma, se une al Celtic de Glasgow, al Ajax, al PSV y al Manchester United en el selecto club de los elegidos.
Desde hacía diez años nadie lo lograba. Curiosamente, el último en hacerlo fue su rival en la final, el Manchester.
